He kept the crowd on their feet for more than 3 hours continuously! My husband and I really loved the slow-dancing ballads, especially Tera Hone Laga Hoon. The dancers, comedian, dhol, venue, and the decor also contributed to a fun-filled event.

Feedback Comments:   Dear IAGG Committee Members,

“Many times, one has to be blessed to get quality, especially with local entertainment”.

We felt blessed attending the Diwali-2010 function hosted by IAGG and are proud that it has reset the bar higher. I, in particular, reconfirmed the power of the word “NO” when used as a prefix.

“WHAT A GREAT SHOW”. No glitches, No boring lengthy speeches, No political assertions, No waste of time, No unduly winding praises, No interruptions……..

Simply put, it was a simple straight forward entertainment program with great features including demeanor, décor, MCing, comedy, food, dancers, singers, music, song selection, team introductions, sponsorship recognitions, extended dance floor, lighting and Dhol.

“FABULOUS” is the word that describes your effort dear IAGG committee. It is “NOW” that the show has just begun.

It is the first time a meat dish was served right next to vegetarain dishes, which seems unpleasant to vegetarians. Is it really necessay to order non-veg., expensive and fatty/unhealthy dishes?

Our sincere apologies, for having the non-veg dish next to veg dish. We ordered one non veg dish based on the request from some of the members.

Feedback Comments:   Quality of program and singers was very good. The selection panel did a great job in selecting participants with a good variety of categories (ie classical, folk, film songs etc...) Technical difficulties made the program a bit too long. Is it feasible to use Greenville Techs professional technician to avoid such issues? A humble request should be given to parents to keep children of all ages under their supervision. Last two rows had many unsupervised children who were talking and playing and preventing others from enjoying the program undisturbed. Maybe babysitting could be made available for such future events. I hope these comments are helpful and not misunderstood.
My husband or I would be happy to volunteer for next years program. Thanks again for a great show.

Feedback Comments:   Team,
Good Show Overall- however one small suggestion on a goofup at the beginning of the program.
When National Anthem of US was being sung, the Indian National Anthem tune was played and Indian Army pictures on the Powerpoint were being displayed.
I know that this was un-intentional, but everyone needs to be cautious and cognizant of the audience should be taken into account so as to avoid occurring again.. There were a lot of local Americans in the audience and I noticed a few were not pleased with this goof up. An apology by the MC’s for audio malfunction would have been good damage control.
Please note that the protocol with regards to national anthems at any event on US soil is to always play/recite the US national anthem followed by the Indian anthem.
Keep up the good work.

IAGG Comments :

We experienced some technical issues. The mix-up with the national anthems was unintentional and we extend our sincere apologies

Feedback Comments:   I have recently been notified that for Anand Bazar practice, particpants will be charged $3.00 per hour for non-Vedic center members.

I believe this is an IAGG event and I do not undersand why individuals who are not vedic Center members should be charged for the same. I signed up for an IAGG event and not a Vedic Center one.

I believe we need to be careful before imposing an unfair tax on IAGG members for things they did not sign up for. I hope we can reconcile this admiarbly.

Cheers
Anand Gramopadhye

IAGG Comments :

Dear Anand,
We would like to clarify that the charge of $3 per practice is being charged by vedic center for their non-members, ONLY if you decide to use vedic center for practices. It is not mandatory that you use vedic center for practices. The particpants/PDs who would like to use the vedic center facility will need to directly contact the VC president for scheduling and any amount if applicable will be collected by VC. IAGG is not collecting any amount for practices and we only communicated the rules and guidelines set by vedic center to the program directors.
Vedic center has decided to charge for practices from their non-members, to offset some of their operational costs.
We appreciate your continued support to IAGG!

The best organized event and you all sticked to the planned schedule [Thank you!]. Finally the event has grown up.

No more plastic dishes... no more feels like we are camping out that in itself was a treat with excellent fare provided by Sanjeev.

A new improved location with excellent thought to details
...good job committee [suresh mathur, priya, tejal, et al.]

and

things that could need more work next time around: a more engaging musical group.

Really enjoyed the fruits of your hardwork and it showed from the brand naming of the tickets all the way to the presentation....

IAGG Comments :

We will keep in mind about your suggestion regarding entertainers for the next event.

Feedback Comments:   Particularly this year I see very good improvement in IAGG events. Current IAGG leadership is (pro)actively worked with other active organizations like TAGG,KAGG etc and difined a new trend/path in IAGG events. I see it as a working together approach. Are we expecting the same approach from new IAGG leadership ? Being heard of new Tamil Sangham in Greenville, it is helpful for entire Greenville community at large if IAGG works together with all other organizations...

Feedback Comments:   For the past several years IAGG Adult Night was always free of cost.
It was arranged with vareity of snacks and local talent karioke and dance at free of cost.
Why change the place (expensive?) and food arrangements?
Why are the benefits of being memebers at $40 /yr. being reduced?
Thanks.

IAGG Comments :

Dear Shri Swamy, Due to following reasons we decided to host Adults Night differently :

1. Peoples demand to change venue from Elks Lodge to a better location.
2. Raise the quality of event by providing full dinner rather than very limited snack since people spend their considerable time.
3. Preference of people towards DJ based music and need of continuous dancing rather than having sit-in program. This increases the cost.
4. Growing cost of Alcoholic drinks which has been integral part of Adults Night
5. Free concept of this program generally impacted quality of Last function of the year for IAGG

We hope that you will continue to support IAGG which did several new attempts this year. Regards, IAGG Team.

Feedback Comments:   Just now I saw the DWI pictures. The Rangoli pictures came out good. I myself made one whole table of Rangoli but I did not see at least one picture of that table. It would have been nice if all the Rangoli tables were covered instead of concentrating on one table, zooming on a part of it and taking pictures. I spent a good 5 hours filling one whole table with rangoli. In future please make sure that all rangoli items are covered.

IAGG Comments :

We are very sorry that your Rangoli did not get captured by the photographer. Although he is a professional... and sincerely takes a lot of pains to cover everything... owing to the size of the event, it is possible that something got missed out.

By any chance... did you take any pictures of the Rangoli yourself...? If so, please do send them in so they can be posted online for all to enjoy and be preserved for posterity.

Feedback Comments:   I just wanted to comment on the minutes from the last meeting. I noticed that you will be serving food on the vedic center side and will not allow food in the ahimsa hall. I just wanted to know what the people are going to do that are serving food. Are they not going to be able to see the entertainment? I mean isnt that what we are all basically going for? First, we are paying a fee to come to the anand bazaar and then the people at the food stalls will be stuck on the other side without being able to enjoy the entertainment. What about the people who are eating as well. They will be missing out also. I think the food stalls should be kept on the ahimsa hall side like it always has been. I dont think there has ever been a problem with that in the past years. Please take that in consideration. Thank you.

IAGG Comments :

We would like to thank you for your suggestion. We will not be restricing the people to enter the Ahimsa Hall from Vedic Center Door.

Feedback Comments:   Everything has been very well done so far. Keep up the good work. Just wanted to say one thing. For all the events, I have noticed, the catering has been done by Saffron. Saffron is good, but there is another good restaurant in town - Handi. I have eaten there also several times. It just would be nice to have catering done by another restaurant instead of Saffron at every event. Again, for the sur sangam event Saffron is catering. I think you should consider a little variety and add Handi on the list for catering events. Other than that, you are doing a good job.

IAGG Comments :

Dear Apna Desi,
We thank you for sharing your concern on the food choices we have provided to the community on the various events that we have conducted. We have provided opportunity to different caterers who serve Greenville. Information provided below will buttress our point of view :
Independence Day was catered by Tummy Delight,
Cricket Tournament was catered by Thai Cuisine,
Diwali was catered by Saffron,
Childrens day was catered by Sushila Ben and Swad.

Please do note that the upcoming event Saffron will cater in Sur Sangam because of the service, delicacy of the food served at the Diwali event and the cost. We do have plans of extending the opportunity to several caterers for the remaining IAGG events.

Thanks for the inputs and please keep supporting IAGG.

Feedback Comments:   I have been monitoring the feedback section for quite some time and find that due credit and the benefit of the doubt has not been given to the Iagg team. This team is working very hard and feedback like the last one indicating that the competition was tutored is baseless. Come on the adult you commented on this needs to grow up!!. I agree that the competion is not all about winning but how you play the game- guys try to have fun and show some appreciation for an event organized beyond anyones expectations. Take a moment to thank the Iagg team for a wonderful performance till date this year!!

Feedback Comments:   Childrens Day Programme was a brilliant idea and was well organised.
Although I was a little let down with the competition part....there was no mention of theme based drawing competition...but it was based on that eventually, dont know why.
To add to it, to know that the parents of some who probably were aware of the theme, had tutored their childs art work...come on youll......can we let children be children.

My child was let down with a thought not to compete in any more competitions (not just IAGGs but any)

IAGG Comments :

Dear member,
Wish we can better communicate if you had revealed your identity. It is sad that you did not appreciate certain portion of this first ever held event for children. Theme was given as a guideline in order to keep children focussed on a definite objective while drawing and not keeping them guessing as to what to draw. We have not been made aware of any exceptions so far on this event however we will value your feedback.
Please always encourage participation that includes your kids because nothing will move forward without people's participation. A famous quote reminds us that "it is important to participate and not necessarily win". Hope you will continue to provide us all your support in this family oriented endevor. If you want to talk, please call up IAGG team anytime.

Thanks,
IAGG Team.

Congratulations for organizing the IAGG Dewali event. Everything, food, decoration, entertainment, and inclusion of family portrait, all wereexcellent and every one had a good wonderful time. This Feedback is specially addressed to Desi Member who posted a comment on November 2, 2008. These are my comments to that posting and it is in response to the suggestion. I would like to put a counter suggestion and proposal and plea to the community.

Your thoughts are noble and have good intentions and I will support this in future but not now. For now we should think about Charity Starts At Home first meaning that we all use and intend to use the Vedic Center Venue for all social as well as cultural events and Vedic Center needs funds to complete the remaining big work that is to complete the Kitchen which is very important. We can warm the food when catered from outside in this kitchen and can have fresh naan instead of eating cold and chewy naan we can warm all food and server better in future if the kitchen is completed and fully furnished. The Chef can cook the food in this kitchen and serve food to everyone. It has less chances of going bad and causing sickness or food poisoning.

Instead of donating to under privilege people we should donate to Vedic Center as that will create a complete venue to hold other charitable events in future for the under privilege people. Everyone is wants to do good charitable work the intention is good but contribution to Vedic Center is also charitable giving. This is right time for everyone who is paying taxes to donate to Vedic Center before the year ends the portion you considered above Tax Exempt Income to Vedic Center. We all use that facility we have a debt on the building we pay high interest on the building every month that all could go to paying down the mortgage on GOD House who has given so much to us all. Let us make it debt free and fully functional.

Lot of organizations are giving to under privilege people not to say we should not give but first let us complete the Kitchen and get the Vedic Center out of Debt.

This place is saving lot of money to the users of the facility; everyone knows how much we were paying to other organizations for past functions when places were being rented for Diwali Functions.

Please do not take this as a negative it is just to draw attention to the needs of the community and the Vedic center.

Now there is a place which we can call ours meaning our community place. A place to pray, have social, cultural, religious events. Being in this town for so many years we have come a long way and it is because of good leaders and their vision all we have to do is support the vision and make the dream come true. Not one person or 2 or 3 or 4 can do it. The community as a whole has to band together and help ourselves in completing the project and paying off the debt.

Everyone praises all events and how successful it goes and to some extent it is the location and the venue and the size of the venue which brings success to the event. No other venue in Town can hold as many people in one place under one roof but Vedic Center Can. That is the asset that has been created for our future generation and for us to use as we grow older. This is the one venue where people will gather and have fun, play basketball, volleyball, indoor badminton and other indoor games. Childrens Day is going to be celebrated only possible because we have a venue to have such event. Anand Bazar, Independence Day Celebrations, Diwali and other entertainment programs such as drama, musical evenings, Navratri, these are just a few. Oh I forgot the Sunday Balvihar is also being hosted at the Vedic Center. Are our children taking advantage of it, Of Course.

I suggest we have the Day with India at Vedic Center and donate the proceeds to Vedic Center to complete the Kitchen we pay high rent to Carolina First Center we would save that also. The organizations that are beneficiaries of funds from this event are already getting from other sources

Best Wishes for the Coming Year.

A Concerned and Well Wisher Member of IAGG and Vedic Center

Feedback Comments:   Kudos to IAGG and vedic center for arranging an excellent Diwali party this year, instead of the usual formal boring Diwali function. Great entertainment, good food, everything on time; what more can you ask for? It was bang for the buck (value for money, as they say back home). It was a refreshing change for me, change we need! Well done! You have raised the bar. The expectations are that all future events will be even better. I am sure this will inspire even people like me to get involved!

Feedback Comments:   Congratulations and kudos to all .. for a grandly successful Diwali event.

In spite of attempting so many new things in a single event... which meant so many opportunities for things to go wrong owing to unforeseen issues... the event rolled along smoothly and generated major wows from everyone.

Some specific highlights based on my own observations and comments from several folks who spoke to me at the event:

* Many individuals (especially old-timers) commented that this was the very best of all Diwali-Nite events they have seen so far.

To put this in context, one needs to remember that teams in the past 5-6 years have been systematically eliminating basic issues like chaos in ticket sales/check-in.. shortage of food... audio system issues etc. Hence the bar has been getting raised steadily each year.. and merely delivering a problem free event is no longer sufficient to generate the wow factor and the best of all events ranking. It was the fresh approach to overall event structure/content, coupled with flawless execution that raised the event to its next level yesterday.

* Really successful elements:
Professionsal artistes (comedian & dancer) kept the crowd engaged very well... without any major event sags. For the first time ever folks who did not want to dance themselves also had something they could enjoy besides the food. (Kyaa hai.. khaane kaa.. doosron ko dance ke naam pe idhar udhar khoodhne kaa dhekhne kaa... can now no longer be an event assessment from even the most hardened cynic)

Special congratulations to whosoever idea it was to have the portrait station.. and also to the folks who conceived/designed/created the excellent backdrop and tasteful settings. Guests were extremely pleased/impressed to hear that they would be able to download the photos and do as they wish with them. The photographer & his wife kept at it non-stop.. maintaining a brisk pace without ever losing their poise and smile.

Food was great as well. The only issue was there were not enough partitions in the plate to put all the items... but.. I would rather it not be the other way round... i.e. not enough items to put in the plate... ;-)

Hall decor was great. The rangoli & fountain at entrance.... the way the pillars were hidden.. huge Kandil... wall motifs.. table settings/layout... stage setup+ lighting... use of spotlights and the roof-mounted color floods instead of the mercury vapor standard Vedic Center lighting... all just amazingly done and coordinated. (There were times I thought the stage could have used some more flood-lights... but that is just me...)

Especially am glad that Subhash pointed out the intricacies involved in the decor... many folks tend not to notice and take them for granted.. but when educated a little.. their appreciation is much more enhanced.

Perhaps for the first time ever... an IAGG event led to neighbors complaining about too much sound... instead of attendees inside the hall complaining that they could not hear.... so looks like we finally have found a good audio system ... ;-)

Showing the photo-album during food on the screen was a nice little touch.

Some things that need attention in future...

Several folks approached me before the event started, complaining that they could not find a place to sit, some even asking if we had over sold tickets... assured them that was defintiely not the case and that there were seats for all.. although they could be scattered around. Sure enough... once the stage show started... I did not see anyone standing.

But... I know that I stole Nirjara seat.. since she was compering... and that the 4 guys who were helping with the Photo booth simply pulled out chairs from the store room so they could stay together in the photo area... so seats were definitely tight. Also not sure if we had any volunteer force specifically assigned to managing seating. I could not leave the photo stall to go help someone locate seats... though I was wearing a volunteer badge. If other badge wearers were similarly engaged.. guests may have gotten somewhat frustrated trying to locate a volunteer able to help them.

Some thought needs to go into addressing this one remaining chaos/tension element that stands in the way of guests having a truly relaxed evening. Perhaps a ribbon with nametag can be given to guests at checkin, which they can affix to chairs marking them as taken, making it possible to tell from a distance the ones still available.

But all in all... the vent went off grandly... and has raised the bar significantly for future teams in coming years.

Congratulations again.

-Anand Manian

I am sure you might have experienced, that no good deed goes unpunished. Who ever wrote this would have been very smart. When one gets punished ithurts but when the punishment is for a good deed it has a potential tohurt even more and for a long time......

Patience, time, friends, family and God heal well..... I really enjoyed the program, the humor, the food, the sprituallyuplifting Sufi style Rajasthani dance and the fact that all the teammembers were individually honored by a spot light.

Thanks to you and yourteam for such a good program.

Feedback Comments:   This year’s Diwali program was a change in the right direction. Hallmarks include good food, quality music system, amazing dance performance by non desi Asha and of course some clean and not so clean comedy from the laughter king Halo re Halo Sunil Thakkar.

Misfits which brings the rating of the program down included the Mauja song by Taal Dance School suddenly appearing on the schedule with an aimless butterfly Asha wandering in the hall, the painful desi announcements for the missing committee members, lighters and non trivial things, who did what, sponsors and overall good event decor.

It would be nice to see some donation from the event go to under privilege people on this occasion with the sponsorship money in addition to ticket sale.

Your noble thought of helping the under privileged section is a wonderful suggestion. IAGG and Vedic Centre is pleased to hear that the Diwali Celbration Event has become a breeding ground for benevolent ideas. With kind support of yours and the community, we believe we can take a plunge in this direction.

IAGG Comments :

Dear Desi,
We are immensely delighted to receive the feedback like yours. At the outset, IAGG would like to express its strong commitment to protect the Copyrights of individuals/corporate brands. It does not behoove for organizations such as IAGG to capitalize on the well recognized brand. IAGG team did do its diligence before incoporating the "STAR ONE TV" symbol on its Flyer for the same concern you have raised. The response we got from Sunil Thakkar is :
" I am authorized to use Star-One name and logo for my professional publicity. I am willingly permit IAGG to mention it as part of its introduction to Greenville community".

IAGG team hopes the aforesaid message will eliminate the iota of waiver from your mind.

Feedback Comments:   Dear Subhash and all IAGG volunteers,

Congratulations on completion of an extremely successful Cricket tournament yesterday. It was encouraging to see such a big event, with record number of people participating and watching – “go so well”.

Most importantly you and your team have boosted the tournament’s organization quite a notch upwards. You all have added variety, spice, food, games, tents, demo’s, pictures, awards and many other specialties to the spirit of the game. It was exciting to see the volunteers fill every requirement that there was on that day. You all did very well in getting sponsor ships too. That is the way to go.

There were so many good things happening that one can go on and on. Unfortunately, due to my travel commitments for Monday I could not stay back to watch or help. I am sure I missed out on some good games and celebrations. I intend to catch up next year.

I know that the IAGG committee is open for suggestions, and if I may request any change (if at all), it would be to re-visit some of the rules of the game itself. Let the tournament not flaunt basic cricketing rules of this great game, out of convenience or lack of knowledge by some. One suggestion would be to balance out the rules between the bowlers and the batsmen thereby generating good competition and fighting spirit. Other wise everything was exceptionally thought out and executed.

I really wanted to complement you and your team on the success and thank you for all the hard work and initiative you all took.

Compliments and Best of Luck for future events,

Thank you and Regards,

Pawan K. Sharma

My best wishes for new team - they seem to be really working hard and lining up events one after the other. Way to go !!

IAGG Comments :

We appreciate your feedback. The reason for showing the ads on either of side of the page is to highlight the confidence expressed by the sponsors on IAGG and also encourage the companies to come forward to sponsor the events. At the same time, it will also give an opportunity for the viewers to IAGG website to see the sponsors of the events. We will try to balance the ads and the content so that the community is aware of the current events in Greenville. We agree it is a delicate act and strive hard to ensure that the essence of the message is not lost.

Secondly, about the feedback shown on this page, if we show limited feedback on this page and the rest of the feedback is shown with a link as "more" which will take them to the next or another page, we can accommodate more feedbacks without scrolling down the page.
